Magma and ARM Sign Agreement for IP Access and Reference Flow Development
Following Several Successful Implementations by Customers, Magma
to Develop Fully Validated Design Flow for ARM Cores from RTL to GDS
CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 28, 2003--
Magma Design Automation Inc. (Nasdaq: LAVA), a provider of chip
design solutions, today announced that Magma will have access to
ARM(R) microprocessor IP and will develop a fully validated IP
implementation flow using Blast Create(TM), Blast Fusion(R) and Blast
Noise(R) products. The two companies will work together to ensure
high-quality results for implementing the cores in the most widely
used process technologies. The documented flow including scripts and
design guidelines will be published by Magma in the third quarter of
2003.
This relationship is a direct result of feedback from Magma
customers such as Faraday, Fujitsu, Intersil, Samsung,
STMicroelectronics and Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc.
(TAEC). These, and other mutual customers of Magma and ARM, have
successfully implemented ARM cores in a combination of 0.25-micron,
0.18-micron, 0.13-micron and 90-nanometer processes

SoC designs using Magma solutions, and this cooperation between ARM
and Magma is an important step for the industry," said Hideki Yamada,

much shorter core implementation time with predictable performance."
Initially Magma will focus on the most widely used cores such as
the ARM926EJ-S(TM) and the ARM946E-S(TM) cores. After this, the design
flow will be developed for the ARM10(TM) and ARM11(TM) core families.
